A woman contacted our Office when she discovered the school board would only bus her granddaughter to a school that was more than twice as far away as the next closest option.
A woman contacted our Office when she discovered the school board would only bus her granddaughter to a school that was more than twice as far away as the next closest option. Due to low population density and a large coverage area, there was only one bus with a route near their home. Our Office made inquiries and discovered it would cost the board approximately $35,000 per year to bus the woman’s granddaughter to the closest school. The woman now receives funding to help offset the cost of driving her granddaughter to and from school.
